[ it was unexpected to them, too. she just suddenly noticed that any and all noises that usually came from Pascal's workshop at the house were quiet, and when she made her way into it, Pascal was nowhere to be found.

initially, she had panicked, wondering if she'd wandered out ... but she actually did think to check the residency list, and sure enough, she wasn't listed. ]

[It takes Hubert a good minute or two to reply, and another minute to hit 'send', but the message that comes through is simple enough.

Even so, if Cheria knows Hubert as well as she thinks she does, she'll easily realize it's his default answer for "I'm pretending like nothing is wrong"]
